How much does a website cost?

The cost of a site will depend greatly on what you want to go on it. We can build sites ranging from small static html web sites to large corporate e-commerce sites containing thousands of products. If you would like a quote personalised to your needs please contact us.

Can you do updates for my website and how much will it cost?

Perhaps you have already got a website and you just need to make some changes to it, maybe you need the menu changing, you want to make amendments to your Actinic website and don't know how or just need to add some content or redesign it. Whether we have built your website for you or you already have one through someone else, we can undertake update work. We can work out a specific quote for your updates or you may like to purchase a maintenance contract with us for ongoing work. Contact us for further details.

How long will my website take to build?

Depending on the size of the site it could be anything from a few days to a few weeks. Once we have given you a quote for the work we can also give you a timescale for how long we think it will take.

Can I use my own font on my website?

For website page text we recommend working with web friendly fonts such as Verdana or Arial. This is because most browsers work with a list of web friendly fonts which are accessible on most browsers and computers. If you have a font on your website which is not available to most web browsers it could mean that your website defaults to a known font and is not viewed how you would like it to be. You can however have your own fonts or less well known fonts used in images on your site for example, in headers, banners or buttons as these are not read by browsers in the same was as plain text.

Will my website look exactly like design?

We will create your website as close to the web design as possible. However, there may be some minor layout differences on different computers due to the way that different web browsers interpret and display the website, the operating system the viewer is using and the monitor and screen resolution the site is being viewed at. We work to try and minimise this so that the website looks as consistant as possible across different web browsers and operating systems.

How do I get the website uploaded to the internet?

If we are building a static html website then we can upload the website for you to your hosting space. However, if you are using software such as Macromedia Contribute, Actinic Software, Smart Epos systems, then you will be able to make changes to content and products yourself and apply it to the website yourself, at any time of the day or night.

Will my website take a long time to download?

The size of your web pages will depend on the amount of information you have on your website. If your pages have a lot of images and other large file size content such as Flash movies, javascripts, video, RSS feeds, database content or other media then it could take a lot longer to download on slower internet connections. Most broadband connections will now download web pages 10 times faster than standard 56k modems. However as a lot of people are still using slower connections we recommend building sites that are accessible to all download speeds. We have found that many websites that use minimal content are just as effective, if not more than pages that have a lot of content. Take Amazon as an example.

How can I get my website listed in the search engines?

Most sites will eventually get indexed by the main search engines such as Google. However, there are many ways that you can market your website a lot more quickly and reach a much bigger audienc using web marketing for search engines, e-newsletters or paid for advertisements.We can help with this, see our web marketing page.

Will I have to learn html or php coding to get a website, I don't know how to write code?

That's what we are here for. Our experienced team have the know-how to write a website for you. If you want a website that you can update yourself, then we can build a website that you can update easily with minimal training using Macromedia Contribute or Actinic Software from the comfort of your own home directly to the website. You'll have the ability to enter content and products yourself and change the page layouts if needed.

What is website hosting?

Website hosting is where your website will be stored on a web server to be accessible via a domain name such as www.yoursite.com. We do not offer website hosting, but we can advise on the best options available to suit your needs.

Can I get emails with my website?

Most website hosting companys will also offer email services so that you can set up as many email addresses as you need for your home of business needs. Most email addresses will be in the format similar to username@yoursite.com. We can advise on the best hosting companies to suit your needs.

How come your site looks so great?

Because we have gone to great lengths to ensure that not only the site looks great, but that it will display properly in most modern browsers, present and future. This is achieved through error free, standards compliant HTML and CSS code. We use these coding standards as often as possible when building sites.
